# Prompts

> Keep the AI prompts you rely on in one library, and put any of them into ChatGPT, Claude or any text field in a few keystrokes.

A prompt is a longer instruction for an AI assistant: who it should be, what it should do, and the rules it should follow. SprintBrain keeps your prompts next to your snippets, in the same folders, so your team works from the same wording.

## Insert a prompt

* **From the menu.** Type `"""` in any text field. The **Prompt mode** menu opens with a few built-in prompts (Formal tone, Casual tone, Translate, Summarize, Expand, Convert to bullets), then your own prompts under **My prompt base**. Keep typing to narrow the list, then press <kbd>Tab</kbd> or <kbd>Enter</kbd>.
* **With its shortcut.** Give a prompt a shortcut, like `followup`. Typing `"""followup` inserts it straight away, without the menu.
* **By copying it.** On the Prompts page, click **Use** on a prompt card to open it, then **Copy**. On your phone, use **Copy text** or **Use now**.

A prompt goes in as plain text. Unlike a snippet, it has no fill form.

`"""` is the default prompt trigger. You can change it in [Triggers](/settings/triggers).

<Note>
  Prompts are written and changed in the dashboard. The extension and the phone page show them and let you insert or copy them.
